Quick answer

Your route in one minute

Use this spoiler-light next-objective decision framework for Beacons, Shells, dungeons, quests, and route-gate bosses: anchor at one Beacon, choose one objective, check its reward relationship, complete the branch, then reassess. The full quest and Ova scope remains incomplete, so no universal order is claimed.

Step by step

Follow the route

  1. 1

Choose a Beacon and one objective

Use Widow's Overlook for Tiel, Blackridge Pass for Shattered Beacon and Proxima, or another named relationship from the map index. One objective keeps the open world legible.

  2. 2

    Add an exploration Shell

Tiel is a direct search-area unlock, while Proxima adds a dungeon route. These routes teach the two most common progression patterns before boss- and quest-gated Shells.

  3. 3

Use gate rewards to open the next branch

The Warden gates Eredrim; Sester Secundus yields Sester's Censer for Genessa; Vellen gates Lazlo; the Heart of Vatra is given to Gragu. Treat each relationship as a branch, not a mandatory global order.

Tip: Open the Shell detail page before entering the named region.

  4. 4

Check equipment before a hard gate

Choose a Shell role and test the main weapon's reach, status behavior, and patch state. The Build Planner can flag documented pairings and neutral gaps without pretending to know exact DPS.

  5. 5

    Budget route resources

Use Gloom for current Shell map locations and Tarforge smelting. Collect applicable Glimpses refunds in Blackmarrow and remember that Mammon enemy Gold was doubled in Patch 1.

  6. 6

Revisit older advice after Patch 1

Boss health/damage, weapon performance, Seal movement, Tarstones, Gold, and smelting changed. If a route feels inconsistent with a launch guide, compare the balance page before changing the whole build.

  7. 7

Move on when the route relationship is complete

A branch is complete when its named Shell, quest handoff, boss reward, or dungeon objective is obtained—not when every disputed public marker total is cleared.

Warning: The database does not claim a complete 100% quest graph yet.

If progress stalls

Recover without restarting the route

  • If every route looks equally important, pick the Shell or reward that best fits the current build.
  • If a gate is unclear, open its boss, quest, or dungeon page before entering the region.
  • If an older route conflicts with the game, review Balance Patch 1 economy and boss changes.
Decision errors

Check these before committing

  • Following one universal boss order
  • Entering a region without checking its reward
  • Treating a community ranking as a progression lock
Why this game is different

The mechanic behind the route

Progression is driven by an interconnected open world and possession targets that use different unlock grammars. A grave interaction, dungeon body, boss reward, three blood offerings, quest-item handoff, and named encounter can all produce a Shell, so a single linear checklist would erase the game's real decision structure.

Common mistakes

What goes wrong and how to fix it

Following one universal boss order

Choose a branch by desired Shell or reward and use its explicit gate relationship.

Entering a route without checking the reward

Open the destination page and decide whether the Shell, item, or progression link fits your current goal.

Treating a community tier as a progression requirement

Use role and investment conditions; rankings are not locks.

Using pre-patch economy advice

Apply the Gloom map cost, Glimpses refund, Gold increase, and lower Tarforge cost.

There is no verified universal order. Start from a Beacon and choose a branch by Shell, dungeon, boss, quest item, or resource goal.
